— a commercial photography workshop with a bit more heart

So you’ve been dipping your toe into the commercial photography pool but don’t know how to fully jump in. The terminology can be confusing, the projects intimidating, the pricing challenging, and how do you even get noticed? Or perhaps you’re in the first few years of your career, but you’ve hit a rut. You landed those first few small clients but want to level up and aren’t sure how to do it. Heck, maybe you’re even 8 years in and are feeling drained, maybe a little lost, and are looking for something to reinvigorate the creative flame you felt almost a decade ago. In all cases, perhaps you’re standing at the edge of that pool thinking “maybe this isn’t for me”. We get it. We wanna be your floatie.

The Rev Workshop Series aims to create an inclusive, practical, and positive space that debunks the myth that the world of commercial photography always has to be overcomplicated and scary. How simply trusting your creative instincts and having a basic foundation can set you up for success. That sometimes knowing you’re on the right track is as affirming and inspiring as learning something brand new. Not only are we bringing together talented photographers who actively work in the commercial world, but seasoned pros in the industry to help photographers build a practical toolkit. Real clients, real projects, real learning. TOGETHER, we hope to create a space for photographers to feel more prepared to not only appeal to commercial clients, but understand the ins & outs of running a successful commercial photography business.

Rev — the singular shortening of many words:

Reverb, revving, revamp, revolutionize. Simply put, we aim to identify & amplify the strengths in ourselves, our work, and our businesses so we can help you run a successful commercial photography business.

We’re not reinventing the wheel here, just adding a much needed spoke.

The Rev team has facilitated an immersive, in-person workshop that focuses on those just entering or in their first few years of commercial photography. Together with an awesome group of individuals, we hope these weekend experiences will give photographers the kickstart they need from a lot of unique perspectives. Here’s what we have curated with The Rev Workshop:

  • A full weekend of learning from professionals actively working in the industry

  • Tackling subjects like determining pricing, putting together estimates, what it’s like to be on set, working with a team, wrapping your head around usage & licensing, & understanding the ins & outs of running a commercial photography business

  • Open Q & A time with our photographers

  • Moderated panel of other industry professionals giving insight on what they look for when hiring & working with photographers

  • Lunch each day, plenty of snacks + time to mingle together with other creatives

  • Connections in an industry that can’t be made anywhere else (you will build a community that will support you for years to come)

While our information is catered to those in their first few years of business, we’ve had multiple students join us who have actively worked in the industry for 3, 5, and even 10+ years who were looking for a community-oriented refresh, which we happily welcomed! Regardless of your niche (portrait, food, interiors, product, lifestyle) this workshop is aimed to give everyone a practical toolkit to begin photographing commercially and/or editorially. We’re excited and eager to share our knowledge and hope you’ll join us.
